this newspaper is clearly misinformed, however rita is definitely in a better position to break the US than cheryl or tulisa are and technically she is more successful in the US than either of the others.

Exactly. And that's how the GP in the states thinks. I'd argue that there's probably a good chance that the average American is equally likely to be as familiar with Cheryl, if only because of Girls Aloud and her massive success in the UK.
