She was never the best to begin with. Her stans overrate her and her "legendary" status to the high heavens. Her best songs aren't written by her (does she write? No shade, this is a legitimate question), and her hypersexualized image played a huge role in her popularity. But she doesn't have that much talent to stand on its own.
No, Lil Kim is a LEGEND, but she isn't the best. SHe isn't the best and she isn't relevant. Lil Kim did a lot for female rap, but I wouldn't consider her to be above Roxanne, Nicki Minaj, and Missy.
to me Kim isn't super lyrical especially considering her lyrics are written for her. even in her prime her writing wasn't anything too special.
Look at Roxanne, her lyrics and flow ere really ahead of her times. IMO if she had come out today she would be a major player. she's just flat out dope.
Nicki is amazing, Azealia will be amazing one day too. but no, Lil Kim has run her course. she should bow out gracefully.
