The era was a huge success - I think if there were any "missed" opportunities, it would be because of the music itself being a bit too noisy or 80's influenced.
In terms of her reputation? It was in the headlines for a little bit but a lot of people saw Gaga as a Madonna wannabe before.
Did anyone outside the stanbases and the press even care about it?
I know no-one did here in Germany
It didn't hurt her era
People were tired of her and the album was a little too experimental for what the GP expected
I think no. The music just didn't do it for the masses, the videos were good up until Y&I, and Gaga was way too overexposed by the time of MTN. Madonna just unknowingly helped her.
I don't think it has anything to do with it. Ppl was so over about Gaga and the album ain't exactly the most commercial pop album ever but it helped to show a different side of her.
No; even though Born This Way was very successful, I
personally think Gaga would have done much better if
she didn't want to be in complete control of everything.
Yes, the Madonna comparisons which were always there went from positive to negative. It started the whole era on a sour note.
Although the whole "feud" thing didn't really hurt her in that everyone loves a big pop feud. It keeps you in the headlines. And Madonna, the clear winner at the beginning, pushed the whole "I'm the queen, I win" thing so far that it ended up making her look bad.
No, the music wasn't good enough, the videos were awful and Gaga got herself overexposed while her image was really terrible (I mean those face implants and giant molds)
