Garth Brooks was married when he met Trisha Yearwood, they recorded together, there were heavy rumors/tabloid stories of an affair for years, which they always denied, but then Johnny Cash and June always denied that they slept together when he was married, but way later in life they admitted that they had, so... Anyway, Garth eventually divorced his college sweetheart and then a few years down the road married Trisha.
But in country there have been other star couples who met and got together when one or both of them was married/engaged to someone else and it hasn't been held against them much (Blake Shelton/Miranda Lambert, Faith Hill/Tim McGraw, Johnny/June). I always figured it was because in the end, the stars were famous and the jilted husband/wife usually was not, and the combined star power was enough to make people forget about the poor "civilian" who got left behind in the grand love story.
Not surprised about Jason's great sales, he immediately apologized and I think his cheating falls more into the "boys will be boys" category, not that people think that cheating is right but they won't hold it against him since even with the family image, he is more of rowdy guy, not a choir boy like a Josh Turner.
+ Jason's "cheating" was nothing compared to what those two or LeAnn did.
