I'm recalling this long-a** thread SayHey (Kylie's forum) a couple of years of ago on how Pink fits perfectly into the slight alt-pop/rock establishment that still lingers there.
While Kylie was always focused on the UK (partially because of her more dance-pop focus), "Wow" from the X era ruined her on Aussie radio and what little influence she had left in Australia P!nk basically took up (that she hadn't already), to the point where P!nk essentially owns Australia chart-wise as not just a 'pop-rock star', but it's de-facto pop star, which translates heavily into these tour receipts.
I personally don't think these things are correlated, but some there insist it is. (Lilly Allen's 2nd album and Katy Perry are related concepts around the same time as well (08ish) , but didn't swoop in that opening as well as Pink.
