Are we still acting like Gaga is bigger than Rihanna?
I think it's (painfully) obvious by now that Rihanna has surpassed Gaga in terms of success.
While Gaga's debut was certainly bigger than Rihanna's, Rihanna has shown that she's semi-consistent with her singles, and that with proper planning her albums can do fairly well WW and domestically (keep it mind that even with Rihanna's lack lustre debuts, she manages to gain a 5-6x multiple on her opening week sales)
So I dunno are we gonna keep acting like this isn't what's happening right now, or can we just admit it. Gaga is still bigger than a lot of the other girls right now (Britney, Beyonce, Katy, Ke$ha, et al.), it's just that Rihanna is clearly on top.
Didn't BTW sell more than every album except GGGB which was released in 2007 and had a re-release? Also BTW (the song) is bigger than nearly every Rihanna single and the BTW Ball will probably outgross all Rihanna's tours put together. Gaga is definately bigger than Rihanna and has far more star power .

The fact that she came out one of the biggest eras of all time and then the next era sold 7M albums (which I doubt) with the biggest promo shedule ever while Loud had 10 TV performances max and sold 6M , so much for her star power
Lady Gaga has almost outsold Rihanna's discography despite debuting 3 years after she did (I know there's like a 10/15m difference, btw). 'Born This Way' has also sold more than any solo single by Rihanna, despite the amount of controversy/backlash that surrounded the song. Gaga's BTW Ball is probably bigger than any tour that Rihanna will do. However, that doesn't mean that Rihanna isn't hugely successful. Gaga + Rihanna are the biggest and most global popstars today.

but people are paying for tour tickets. when will someone pay more than 1.29 for Rihanna?

It sold more than any album of her except of Loud, not GGGB.
Still bigger than 5/6.
And bigger than any single Rihanna ever released.
Rihanna seems bigger because she constantly has a new album, a new single, a new era.
Lady Gaga has more impact in my opinion, her albums last longer and don't get old as fast, her tours are more successful and if we compare her FAIRLY to Rihanna we go back to Rihannas first few years in the business, Gaga has been around for a few years whereas Rihanna is approaching a decade in the industry...she has certainly surpassed Rihannas achievements if you were to put their careers on a time line.
Let's wait for Gaga's next single and that #1 debut for an album Rihanna has yet to attain. I love them both, as long as they both keep making music I am happy.
