I’m usually against these long music videos / mini-movies but Lana Del Rey keeps on knocking them out of the park, first with “National Anthem,” (EPIC) and now with “Ride!” Clocking in at ten minutes, this is for sure one of her best videos to date (her voiceover gives me chills), she looks amazing and I happen to think it’s a masterpiece, although I’m sure many would disagree, she’s such a polarizer! The track is off Lana’s upcoming re-release of Born To Die, called The Paradise Edition, which includes eight new tracks (plus her haunting cover of “Blue Velvet”), it’s set to drop on November 13th!

The music video is freaking awesome. The track just isn't that refreshing.

4.5 million views in 3 days. Damn impressive.

Not sure if this website or the critic is known, but this is one of the best reviews of a Lana song/video I have read.

"Singing blues has been getting old," croons Lana Del Rey on "Ride", the first single from Born To Die – The Paradise Edition out November 13.

However, Del Rey has taken the blues down a new path with the heartbreakingly hypnotic track. Airy synths reverberate in the background as her powerful and potent delivery captivate. It's a brilliant and blissful rumination on escape as she confesses, "I've got a war in my mind. I just ride".

Del Rey has always ruled the realm far outside of the standard pop box, but "Ride" takes her to a new place altogether. The song itself boasts an expansive soundscape that allows for the singer's voice to shine. Production-wise, it's warm and distant all at once. She gets poetic and pensive with the lyrics, but it's that smoky, smooth, and sultry melody that's utterly rapturous.

It's one of Del Rey's best and a new high watermark for modern pop. The "blues" will never get old with her around.

Review: Lana Del Rey - Ride [Single]

I have never really been a huge fan of Lana Del Rey, I found her lyrics dull and they never seemed to fully grip me on an emotional level. However when I came across 'Ride', it was a whole new musical experience. The lyrics to 'Ride' grabbed my attention straight away as they sound like they come from the heart and are oozing with meaning.

On November 13, Lana Del Rey will release Born To Die -The Paradise Edition (Interscope/Polydor) including the original, multi-platinum album plus eight new tracks. The album's first new single 'Ride,' produced by Rick Rubin and recorded at Shangri-La Studios in Malibu, CA, is available now at digital retail.

'Ride' was written by Lana and her 'Video Games' collaborator Justin Parker. A former bordello in the '50s, The Shangri-La studio became home to the likes of Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton, and Martin Scorsese used it as a location for'The Last Waltz.'

The track is slow-paced yet still has the melody and harmonic orchestra backing track to keep you gripped into the lyrics, her voice is smooth and has a calm side as her lyrics dig deep emotionally.

My expectations of Lana Del Rey were completely blown as soon as I heard 'Ride' because it is a track of pure gold, if you are a fan of her work you will not be disappointed by this new track and even if you aren't a fan of her work or the whole 'indie pop' genre I still completely recommend 'Ride'.

Although I don't care what critics say, it's nice to see Lana getting the praise she most definitely deserves!
