If you read the post, you'd realize things will be A LOT different in 2022. How fast the cellular providers went from 3G to 4G from 2002 to 2006 is CRAZY. Technology is even moving at a faster rate than it did from 2000-2010. This decade is gonna be big imo. I think we'll see the introduction of actual wireless charging in the next 2 years + holograms by the end of the decade.

!! Internet is in its first stages now too. In 10 years, so many more things will be connected to it. That's the point I'm trying to make.

It's kind of complex. The Internet's main purpose is to fasten communication worldwide, but it's also becoming (or has become) the main way of communication. I wouldn't like future generations to have a justification for exaggerated adherence to digital devices thus gradually getting dumbed down, but this necessity is crucial to technological advances and for other nations to step their games on the IT field.

I'd say, if the nation can afford giving all of their citizen's decent internet connections and if the internet becomes the main way of communication, then yes, it should be a "legal inalienable right".

Lemme remove inalienable. It was bothering me anyways. But YES. the Internet is everywhere. Just look at how many Wifi hotspots there are in Europe.

Yes. We have this paper-less program at work where we just bring laptops to Seminars to avoid the use of papers for photocopying. I think this is an advancement in the right direction.

Since when do children + dangerous criminals have full rights anyways? And children should have the right to the Internet especially in school. It's important for development. At an early age.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Basically you're saying that everyone should have free wifi? Then I suppose, but I feel like that would end up having slow connection speeds. Maybe not once networking technologies advance but it would have a long way to go if the government were to make it free to everyone.

Honestly though, I don't think it should really be a "right", it's a privilege I think at some point in time, there will be nationwide wifi because everything will be running off of the internet, but I don't know if it will every really be a right. I think it'll just be something that happens that's most likely supported by the government. Maybe government-supported nationwide wifi that's paid for by a portion of your taxes?

Definitely, I agree that internet will be everywhere within the next decades. We'll probably have companies similar to cell carriers offering nationwide wifi (with actual high speeds, not 4G or any of that) followed by the government eventually starting their own system. I think it would start, like I said, by taking a bit from taxes each year, and then once internet is cheap enough for them to run, they'd just make it free or take very little from taxes.
