Songs like Tik Tok and Sleazy could of charted on the Rap Chart if that's the case, since she raps the verse on both of those songs

When the hell did rock songs change their definition? I know Mumford and Lumineers and Phillips don't quite fit as at best I'd say they were "college rock" when they're really folk, but Too Close, that abomination by Train, The A_Team and Some Nights are pop songs.

Is "Madness" really the only rock song in their top ten? I'm so confused...

There's the R&B/Hip-Hop Chart which is for all urban songs, and there's the R&B Chart which is for songs Billboard considers to be R&B

I initially had the same reaction as most people: Oh this F***ed up the genre charts really badly. But now, seeing as there is a separate airplay chart for each genre I see what Billboard is trying to do here.

Let's take the Country Songs chart for example. That would rank the country songs by overall popularity and not only by airplay. While the Country Airplay chart would be for airplay and Country Digital Songs would be for sales. Basically it's taking the Hot 100 and weeding out all the "non-Country" songs and ranking them that way. Same with the rest of the charts.

But I'm not sure they should take into consideration radio airplay from other formats though. I don't think that's fair. After all, it's a genre chart. Only airplay from that specific genre should count. Also, I think they need to re-think the weight digital sales have. I think digital sales should account for less. They're far too influential on the position of the song on the chart. I can see how WANEGBT might be slighty country influenced (especially the country version), but seeing IKYWT close to or at the top next week? Yeah, I think they need to re-think their calculations...

For country songs, I don't think sales/airplay of a pop mix should count in the tabulations. If country artists want to remix their songs, fine, but I don't understand rewarding that on the country charts themselves. Billboard is going to stick to their new formula for a while but the backlash to the Hot Taylor Swift Songs chart will be too much and the rules for country at least will be tweaked and probably the others like R&B too if they end up being dominated by one or two artists for months.
