It's really bad timing on Billboard's part tbh. I think if WANEGBT had been 1. country and 2. Not gotten such backlash it would be a different story.

Like if Begin Again had been the one to take top spot it wouldn't have been so controversial.

It's a really bad situation to put Taylor in since WANGEBT clearly wasn't received well by country listeners and the version that's selling a ton on iTunes is very much a pop song.

It's not Taylor's fault at all but it's a really bad position for Billboard to have put her in. I don't know if they realized the backlash that changing so that a song that's not country and was very much not received well by country fans would bring. Basically psy could add a banjo to Gangham stuyle, release it to country and have a #1....

It's just poor timing with Blown Away too. I feel bad for Taylor it's like they know WANEGBT isn't a country song, they realized it was problematic and instead of pushing it to the top ten pulled it in favor of a much more suitable song to minimize backlash.

The bad is , is this rule and Taylor being #1 is being discussed on country radio and a lot of the comments are not good. Bad timing unfortunately and the heat is being placed on Taylor and SB instead of on billboard where is should be
