I think she means he composed the strings in the song after Justin Parker wrote the chords over her lyrics & melody. Rick Rubin was then brought in for the production.

Daniel Heath is the guy responsible for all the lush string arrangements on the Lana songs that have the need for them. Probably most evident in the song 'Born To Die' - very cinematic. He was Hans Zimmer's assistant - you can't get a better mentor than that in the film score world!

Apologies for quoting myself but I was wrong. Daniel Heath only arranged the strings for Blue Jeans, a song he also co-wrote with Lana. The majority of the strings on the Born To Die album were arranged by Steve Tirpak. Apologies to Mr Tirpak.

I know a lot ppl dislike the complex layers of "overproduction" on BTD and prefer the demos, on the other hand I really enjoy the lush string arrangements and the resulting cinematic feel!
