The interview wasn't fabricated. He clearly said Lady Gaga wasn't an icon like many make her out to be. But what he said doesn't mean he was EVER dissing her. He just said she's not iconic, he didn't say he hated her music or hated her.
Honestly, even if he did say that, there's no reason to apologize for it. The only reason he's saying anything about it is because of the psychotic monsters who scream bloody murder at anyone who regards Gaga as anything less than the next Mozart.

It's basically the same stuff that happened with Adele and "her" comments on Gaga and Madonna dressing sexy. She never said it; the tabloid just took old quotes, reworded them and through Gaga's and Madge's names in it. Adele rarely does interviews these days, and she definitely wouldn't do one with THE SUN after all the lies they spread about her.
