Actually the Exclusivity is a smart move since it's exclusive to AT&T they will do major promo for the 920. The Exclusivity will probably last for just a few months then Nokia will make it available through other carriers.

Sorry, my bad! Later in the day I saw the new 810... see if you google images "nokia 810" you get the slider/huge one (n810) from forever ago, so I got confused/thought it was a typo

I'm pretty sure the company is just trying to not lower consumer confidence in the Lumia line by saying its a good thing unfortunately

. In 2011/2012, two major Canadian carriers had exclusivity to the Lumia 800 (Telus) and Lumia 900 (Rogers). Basically, they never advertised them because they had other phones that had the potential to make more money (iPhone 4/4S, S2, Xperia) and that's why it was generally considered such a flop - they had almost no market penetration, although everyone said the phone/system was excellent. So I'm worried the same thing will happen again - especially because if they have to pay for advertisements, they're going to go with their safest bets for the holiday season - iPhone 5/S3. They're only going to try and introduce the 920 as a point of differentiation - but they can't possibly put too much money into it unless it starts to really kick off worldwide, the executives won't want to take the risk. Which it probably wont... because, for example, Rogers (like the AT&T of Canada) has exclusivity to the 920 but will only be selling the 920 in BLACK and no other fun colour, and since they dropped the ball on the 900, I wouldn't be surprised if they did it again this year...

I'm a pessimist and have a master in business though, I'm pretty much trained to think of the worst possible scenario... I really hope you're right though, because I would LOVE if they started selling it on other carriers (and in all the colours) and the more ppl using the system, the better! I just don't want to wait while everyone else has the pretty phone in their hands

and it's already looking like I'm going to have to ship from abroad

That would be pretty illogical of Nokia since the colors are one of their selling points

We all know how half baked the Lumia 900 was and the 920 is basically the 'finished' Lumia 900. The hype of the 920 is bigger but it started out as a mess but it did stand to what they released in the 'fake' commercial (seriously a 'fake' commercial? every freaking phone does that.). So the point here is they started the momentum with negative publicity which turned around and now they are living of the hype of those tech reviewers. I'm not sure how big the Lumia 920 and 820 phones would be but one thing's for sure, it will be bigger than the initial Lumia phones Nokia made last year. But they wouldn't be as big or bigger than the iPhone 5 and SGS3 since let's be rational, they are not on "that" level anymore. It will take years for them to take over both companies in the Smartphone world.

Based on the rumors, it's cheaper. But still, they are rumors we better hold our breaths till the final announcement comes

I know right?! It's so bad, it's a huge selling point, releasing the 920 only in Black in Canada is so silly. There's even a petition going around to get them to sell all the colours. So that's why I'm kind of skeptical about this exclusivity deal. If the phone gets the true advertisement it deserves, it will kick ass though. I have faith in Nokia, they'll manage... the carriers themselves on the other hand...

Pretty sure I'm getting the 820 in purple (provided that someone in Canada announces they'll be selling it). I'm going to sacrifice the better camera for a better price, it's not nearly as sleek looking as the 920 but realistically, I can't stick with a 1-colour phone for 3 years when I know I have an alternative lol. The 810 is actually really nice, if I need to ship abroad I might get that instead.
