EXCLUSIVE: The upcoming fifth season of ABC Family‘s The Secret Life Of The American Teenager will be the series’ last. The drama from 7th Heaven creator Brenda Hampton was the breakout hit that put ABC Family on the scripted map when it premiered in June 2008. It also helped launch several of the next generation of successful ABC Family series. Additionally, it made a star out of lead Shailene Woodley, who went on to land the co-lead opposite George Clooney in The Descendants, a role that earned her much acclaim. I hear the feeling was that, after five seasons, Secret Life has run its course, leading to the cancellation. The 12-episode fifth and final season of Secret Life will launch in March.
