GPA stands for Grade Point Average. It is the overall average concerning your grades. Grades consisting of a B (3), A (4), and D (1), would have a GPA of C+ (2.7). http://www.onlineconversion.com/grade_point_average.htm can help you with general GPA calculations.
Also, just to remind people, grades do not accurately measure intelligence. Someone who gets straight As might be as smart as someone who barely passes. Grades just measure how committed they are to doing their classwork and what not. Some do poorly, grades-wise, because they are horrible test-takers. It all varies and there are different forms of intelligence.

I've been looking for a GPA calculator. : ] !
And to kind of bounce off the 2nd part, even though it sounds like something from a PG/G-rated movie: Some people have amazing strengths when it comes to knowledge about particular topics or doing certain skills, while other people may have weaknesses/deficiencies at the same exact things. (And vice versa)
I know a friend who dropped out of college and knows a lot more about mechanics/automotive work than I could ever grasp. He could practically build a car by himself.
