I just don't get it. Just because an artist can sing 10000 different genres, doesn't mean they're versatile. It just means that they're trying too hard. There's really not a lot of versatile artists out there. 99% of the time when an artist sings a different genre, it will still have elements or styles from their niche genre. To be versatile means you have to be a different artist when singing a different genre, not singing with an R&B flavour country, R&B flavour rock, etc. It's very annoying.

Kelly Clarkson is a good example of a versatile singer mainly because her voice is "different" and unique on different genres. She can own classical with an operatic voice as evident with Ave Maria, R&B with Trouble With Love Is, Rock with Breakaway album, country with her country nature, Standards.. she owns everything.. and her voice is not the same on different genres.

Beyonce is not a good example of a versatile singer because her voice is pretty much the same on any genres she sings.

Now to be fair all 3 of those songs fit the R&B genre, dance-ish or ballad, or w/e you call consider those three songs.
She may sing in a different tone, and style for various songs/era's but it doesn't mean she's actually made that song into something that qualify's it to be in a different genre. RTW is a really bad example tbh, a huge Bey lover myself you should know about RTW's background and it's instrumentals and so on.

Very few artists, from my standards anyway, have really become versatile. I think P!nk is the best example.
