Are you sure about that? Amazon is a household name in Books, Music, Movies, Electronics, and everything else in the world whilst retaining a well-rounded reputation. Google is known for search and Android, but is just starting to establish itself in the digital music, movie, and book world. When is the last time you heard a friend casually mention their recent purchase of an album from the Google Play Store? Probably never. People with Android phones download the Amazon app to download music.
To put this into perspective, Amazon's digital ecosystem is only slightly less cohesive than Apple's, which is heralded as the pinnacle of electronic togetherness. You have the same store selling you everything on every device you use with a long track history of reliability and safe products to purchase in accompaniment. The only advance Google has over Amazon is Gmail, Google Drive, G Contacts, etc. However, you can use Google's email system in conjunction with Amazon's media ecosystem, so Google doesn't really have an upper hand at all.
