Nicki gives Mariah credit where it's due. She acknowledges she is a legend, and in no way is she trying to insinuate that she's better than her or that her career is better than hers. Only then would this kind of argument have any ground. But in this case it doesn't.

What did Nicki say Mariah was 'bitter' over? I can't see how she would say that without insinuating Mariah feels threatened by someone else which is where I'm guessing these 'legacy' comments are coming from.

Maybe the problem is with Nicki and not with Mariah , she got nothing to be bitter about.
Nicki has given Mariah kudos since day one on her career, but when the achievements, #1's, and album sales are stripped away, it's about how you treat one another.
