It's quite obvious that her ego drives her career now, moreso than before. If she wants to bring the same (not to shade her) "pretentious" attitude from the BTW era to ARTPOP, just with a bitchy Hollywood twist, ARTPOP is hardly going to be a mega-era her fans want.

PN/BDKMV is the only collab that she's pulled this with to our knowledge. GT is out of her control.
In terms of directors, she had one bad experience with Joseph Kahn and it obviously left a bad taste in her mouth, resulting in her not wanting to bring in non-Haus directors.
She's addressed that and now we're getting professional directed videos for ARTPOP. She's even giving a fan the chance to direct a video, probably because she knows how fiercely opinionated we are of her work and is giving us a "so you think can do better" opportunity.
I fail to see how it's obvious that her ego drives her career.
