yup, basically blown their chances for a #1 debut album completely. the same thing happened during 1D's opening week this time last year
this sucks. I was so excited for the girls because I really thought they were going to get their album to the top and add another #1 to their resume. ugh.
If they are pushing it forward they'll have to compete with another X Factor act on the chart which I doubt is likely going to happen. If they are pushing it back to 26th there can be a chance Rihanna remains at top for another week and it will make things look uglier if they lose it to Rihanna in her second week. Plus, the single is supposed to be out a week before the album, if they are changing the release date for the album, they are likely to change the release date for the single too.
I don't think they'll change the date either, it's not only a battle between Rihanna and Little Mix, it's also a battle between Universal and Sony. Rihanna has it in the bag now, unless "DNA" turns out to be seriously amazing and climbs to #1 during a relatively quiet week, I can't see them having a #1 debut album any more. Susan Boyle is also releasing her album that week, she is a massive album seller so she might even beat Rihanna to the top spot. Who knows.
If their management team is smart enough they'll consider getting Little Mix to perform on the X Factor on the 19th Nov when the album is coming out. This is the only chance they have to boost the album sales. The "DNA" single will easily get to #1 without X Factor promotions, "Wings" managed to do it so I can't see how "DNA" can not, it's a more popular song after all, and they don't have any big competition for that week.
