Lady Gaga isn’t dropping her dukes in her fierce fashion fist fight with New York Times style scribe Cathy Horyn.
Far from it. Now she’s smacking down Horyn and her boyfriend, Liz Claiborne founder Art Ortenberg, in a redux of her single "Cake Like Lady Gaga," which was the soundtrack for Thierry Mugler’s Spring/Summer 2013 show in Paris.
"Mugler's show, I'm Lady Gaga. Bad bitches gonna walk the runway, walk bitches like Lady Gaga," the song begins.
The track is altered to make Gaga’s voice sound deeper, like a man's, and she references her recent weight gain as well as "Nicopanda" – an online gaming character created by Gaga’s designer pal Nicola Formichetti to model his virtual fashions.
"Ortenberg you can suck my dick, walk bitch you ain't Lady Gaga," she sings/raps. "Nicopanda got style, trick, Cathy Horyn your style ain't dick. Walk a mile in these foot-high heels, I run in these you ain't running ****. You chew beef, I wear meat - I'm getting fat and so is my bank. From a sold-out world tour, bitch."
The fight began in 2011 when Horyn criticized Donatella Versace for outfitting Gaga in archival vintage pieces for the singer's Edge of Glory video. "Be choosier, Ms Versace," she wrote in a piece for the Times, then announced she had "unfollowed" the singer on Twitter.
Gaga hit back in V magazine writing: "In the age of the internet, when collections and performances are so accessible to the public and anyone can post a review on Facebook or Twitter, shouldn't columnists and reviewers, such as Cathy Horyn, employ a more modern and forward approach to criticism, one that separates them from the average individual at home on their laptop?"
The feud was reignited during New York Fashion Week in September when Gaga took Oscar de la Renta’s side after over a negative review of his show, in which Horyn also called him a hot dog. The designer took out a full page ad in Women’s Wear Daily voicing his dislike for her review. Horyn's boyfriend then got involved by writing a letter to WWD calling Gaga "vacuous" and advising her to "grow up."
And since you are probably wondering, yes, these people are all adults, not 12-year-olds.
But as a huge fan of Hedi, his Dior Homme and Rock Diary, Im surprised because he is not the type to be easily dragged into fight... by the way, I was shocked when Hedi worked for Gaga, he is mostly there for other type of artists... the fact he agreed to work with Gaga still shocks me to this day
But how is Ortenberg going to tell Gaga to "grow up" when it's his own wife throwing insults and calling people "hot dogs"?
Gaga, Slimane, and Renta have all had something to say about Horyn's predictable and always negative personal attacks. It's not bullying when you're defending yourself from bullying, which is what Gaga's doing. Horyn is way too comfortable with her job and it's to the point where she's now a bitch for no damn reason, throwing personal jabs at people just for the fun of it.
