PARIS POLITICOS: A few very high-profile guests showed their faces – or sunglasses – Monday evening at the Paris fundraiser for the Obama Victory Fund, supported by Anna Wintour. These included Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lopez, Kanye West and Stella McCartney. Even Mick Jagger popped in for a couple of minutes.
Attendees arrived at the seemingly low-key location in a scruffy street off Place de la Bastille that deceptively houses Kenzo Takada’s former home, now a high-end private reception venue called La Maison 8, avoiding the cameras and heading straight into the $2,500-per-head reception.
Wintour herself was spotted leaving the venue at 7:20 p.m., presumably heading off to the much-anticipated Saint Laurent Paris show at 8, while Lopez, sporting a striking red gown, left shortly afterward.
It is understood that Johansson gave a speech in support of President Obama during the reception.
“We need Obama to win,” Stella McCartney said, getting into her car after the cocktail.
And it seems that Paris’ American community agreed. Apparently the dinner, priced $10,000 per person, was sold out in advance, and the event, cocktail and dinner combined raised a total of $350,000 for Obama’s election campaign, according to a source.
One guest who skipped the pre-dinner cocktail was Lee Radziwill, arriving just in time for the meal.
