Lol everyone's trying to defend/promote their faves now.
Well, fine, I'll join in.
*looks through iTunes library for male pop stars*
*just finds random indie artists and Azealia Banks*
Oh well You can't say I didn't try.
Glamazon is always hijacking some thread with Adam promo. Ban much?
Anyway, the answer is distinctiveness. None of them try. Female artists aren't necessarily less basic/generic, but they have distinctive characteristics that make them, mostly, different. Then of course as said they can explore music more because they're girls.
Chris Brown was very unique but he kind of shot himself in the leg...he has the ability to be creative but he likes playing it safe for his standards
Usher it unique as well.....and id also say Bruno Mars
Women have it easy...they could dress up as men and kis each other and get away with it...Men can't wo backlash
No.
All of today's male Pop artists are either Michael Jackson, the Beatles of Elvis. All of them.
Adam Lambert is the most unique, but his music is pretty basic.
There just isn't the same market there isn't as much work put into them, let's face it even the most talented of pop stars are almost entirely a product of marketisation, millions are poured into them and their promotion, some more than others, to get it out again. There just isn't the same put into the men.
I agree male POP artist's are boring (men are owning rock and rap though). It just seems the gurls get all the good stuff and the boys are left with generic meaningless crap but their are some exceptions like Bruno Mars.
saying every male artist is basically a MJ ripoff is unfair considering he was making music for like 40 years so he had the opportunities to do everything
so there's not really the possibility of doing something today that he didn't do
The female artists are all unique or creative (or at least interesting) in their own way.

Just like accusing female popstars of ripping off Madonna
Because they don't have much choice, woman can explore every corner visually and artistically even if they're straight, all unique creative artists such as Bowie, Prince, Freddie Mercury etc were gays or accused of being gays...
Men are not encouraged to creatively experiment with their image or do so in a way that is contrary or does not exemplify the hyper masculine image for male artists.

No it means they need to be creative.
It also shows the profound impact he had on the industry
