It's because everyone is buying the EP , whoever on their label thought it was a good idea to release an EP on the same week was stupid because I don't think those sales count towards the single.

Usually British artist release EP's including remixes, this is nothing new. Look at Anything Could Happen, and all their previous singles, all released as EP's.
