The Japanese music industry has been turned upside down by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's new smash Fashion Monster. If a western pop girl released an English song that sounds like this, would she flop or be successful?
I enjoyed some of her other songs better, and none of those made any impact in the west beyond viral curiosity. Which is fine, I don't think her brand would translate well into western media unfortunately.
