At the moment, Maroon 5 appears to have a slight advantage in overall Hot 100 points, but there's is still a weekend of activity ahead. Another viral video like this one or this one may give PSY the edge, or an unexpected performance like his "Saturday Night Live" cameo could help "Gangnam Style" shoot up the chart.
Next week, PSY's "Gangnam Style" is forecasted to sell 300,000, while Maroon 5's "Night" is expected to move 210,000-225,000. (The Nielsen SoundScan sales tracking week ends on Sunday, Sept. 30.) But through two-and-a-half days of airplay, "Night" has accumulated 43 million in audience, while "Style" has seen only 15 million. Because "Gangnam Style" will likely lead in sales and "Night" will finish ahead in airplay, either song could top the Hot 100.
