Many singers are credited as songwriters on most of the songs, but do we know how much is really theirs and how much come from others?

we dont. Were not in the studio when they are recording and writing the songs. The only proof we have is heresay.

All four of these people meet my definition of a "songwriter." Meaning that they're all individuals known to have significant contributions to writing the lyrics of the majority of their music.

Voted for Gaga, but I'd probably have chosen Pink if I knew more of her material.

But isn't songwriting also writing the music? My fave Ani Dfranco prides herself for having written ALONE all of her lyrics AND music

songwriting isnt just writing lyrics though.

writing lyrics is the easiest part of it.

Hard to say. Ke$ha and GaGa strike me as having a very consistent way and style of writing, like you can distinguish a Lana Del Rey song just by the style, same goes for GaGa and Ke$ha.

GaGa has never released a song that she didn't write, and she's wrote for Queen Britney, JLo, etc. Her lyrics are creative (Judas, Poker Face) and she makes excellent ballads. All 4 of the people are songwriters but GaGa is the best imo and that's not from a stan viewpoint.

they are all songwriters though. from what i know, all of them write their material. they even write for other artists.. but i voted katy

Gaga. Her producers have said that she gives them writing credits even if they don't necessarily deserve it since she does most of the work. She has also written for other artists before and has won awards for songwriting.

P!nk would probably be my second choice.
