I'd still appreciate an explanation for why I was given this warning. I've already pointed out another user who brought up another book not written by Rowling who was not warned.

But they did not do it in a disparaging way. Making the comparison the way you did was both flamebait and off topic. If it's a mix like that we usually just pick one.

Did I lie though? All critics praise Rowling over the other two others. So it's not like I was sharing an opinion to stir trouble. It's like fact that she's the more talented wittier. So I just see it as me stating the truth.

Whether the comment is true or not doesn't matter because that's subjective. Someone was bothered enough by it to report it, and it did cross the line, so it was warned. That's all there is to it.

But why wasn't it listed under flamebait then? The mod who warned me did so primarily for off topic. If anything, since I'm new, a reminder would have been more appropriate than a warning. Especially considering since I've actually been following the rules when there are others who've joined days before or after me who are already banned.

A warning is just that; a warning. As long as you don't make more posts that can get warned you'll be fine

Just the fact that off topic was chosen to be listed over flamebait gave me the indication that it unnecessary to warn for that primarily. I've pointed out why too.

But as a first offense as a new member you just get struck with a warning over a reminder for something so mild when others have said far worse? Okay that doesn't make sense. Whatever though, I'll just have to get over this if you're really not going to reverse this.
