"Work It" is Missy Elliott's biggest hit (one of the longest #2 peaks of all time), and one of her most acclaimed songs. The song is a comedic take at sexual politics, and Missy's voice is often reversed throughout the song.
Standout Lyrics:
Quote:
|
If you a fly gal get your nails done
Get a pedicure, get your hair did
Boy, lift it up, let's make a toast, uh
Let's get drunk, that's gonna' bring us closer
Don't I look like a Halle Berry poster?
See the Belvedere playin' tricks on ya

"Lose Yourself," Eminem's highest placing song on this countdown is from the soundtrack to 8 Mile. The song is one of the most popular Hip-Hop tracks of all time, has had countless commercial success, and is a defining song for the Noughties.
Standout Lyrics:
Quote:
|
His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy
There's vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti
He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready to drop bombs,
But he keeps on forgetting what he wrote down,
The whole crowd goes so loud

"Doo Wop (That Thing)" is the lead single from the immensely successful and acclaimed The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. It debuted at #1, being the only female rapper song to even hit that position. The song warns both women and men to be wary of "That Thing."
Standout Lyrics:
Quote:
|
Girlfriend, let me break it down for you again
You know I only say it 'cause I'm truly genuine
Don't be a hardrock when you're really a gem
Babygirl, respect is just a minimum

"99 Problems" was the third single from The Black Album. The song peaked at #30, and had limited commercial success, however the line "I got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one" has become a staple saying in Pop culture and one of the most well known lines of the 2000's. It's also known as one of the best songs of the decade by critics.
Standout Lyrics:
Quote:
|
I'm like f*ck critics you can kiss my whole asshole
If you don't like my lyrics you can press fast forward

"Nuthin but a G Thang" by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg is the only Dr. Dre song to make this list. It reached #2 on Billboard, and popularized the G Funk sound.
Standout Lyrics:
Quote:
|
Fallin' back on that ass with a hellified gangsta' lean
Gettin' funky on the mic like a' old batch o' collard greens

Great start to the top ten! I'm especially a fan of "Work It," "99 Problems" and "Doo Wop."

DEFINITELY the most admirable list on ATRL.
This almost makes me want to do a Top 100 R&B Songs or Top 100 R&B Albums of All Time list
