It drives me nuts when people says things like "Toughen up -- 30 years ago there weren't kids killing themselves over bullying."
1) Kids have committed suicide over bullying for a long time -- it just wasn't as publicized.
2) There wasn't social media which allows bullies to harass, threaten, humiliate and torture other kids 24/7.
3) The viciousness of bullying has intensified as our society has become desensitized. It's considered normal now to tell other kids "Everyone would be happy if you killed yourself" and even cheering and celebrating after someone's committed suicide.
