The album isn't bad at all. But she didn't choose the right lead single.
If Loose sold 1.7 in the States then where are the 8.3 million left coming from? Doesn't sound possible.
Loose sold 2 million in the States and the rest came from the rest of the world...it was a MASSIVE era worldwide. Maneater, Promiscuous, Say it Right, All Good Things were all huge.
She should have released her next studio album in 2009 instead of that abortion of a Greatest Hits project that completely tanked, and made sure she had a real smash as the lead single.
I knew she wasn't going to do well but less than 10k? I'm pretty shocked.
She took a risk with this album by not going the safe route. American radio, for the most part is very shallow when it comes to supporting anything outside of the box. Though there are a few songs on the album that I can see smashing internationally, the title track being one of them.
I wonder where she will debut in Canada, Big Hoops was a hit here, and then she had the song with K'naan that was an even bigger hit here, but both died out long before the album came out. Either way, Canadian sales won't mke it up because with 6K here, she'd be Top 5... and I doubt she's near the Top 10.
