Affirmative Action at this point is unfortunately absolutely necessary because of the underlying structures that put certain minority students at a great disadvantage. It's not an ideal solution but there's clearly a need for it:

It sacrifices academic merit and integrity for diversity. In my public school system, everyone has access to college prep programs, AP classes, the library, and counselors who will help them get into a UC or CSU. If anything, economic factors should be considered more than race. It obviously varies and is hard to pinpoint, but the premise sounds too politically correct.

Many families disregard public university because of the rising tuition and private because of astronomical price and send their child to CC. That's where the real problem is.

I do see that the less fortunate will need to be helped since they can't perform on the same level as a middle class or upper class student. Still on the fence there are pros and cons X_X

Minorities and women are satistically more disadvantaged. I don't see any other solutions other than AA.

I thought Asians were with white people in regards to AA.

That's what I thought too. But in some colleges there diversity level is horrible so then again it matters on the situation.
