Most of the reviewers agree that Vanessa steals the spotlight, occasionally sharing it with Benson if only because their characters are practically hip-conjoined.
Selena is said to be "OK, but with the less screen time" and Rachel Korrine "unconfortable and almost out of place".

I've been reading every them all actually. Selena's character gets her own paragraph of praising cause her character is different than the others, it stands out, while all other three girls are described in one alone.
Also I don't recall seeing critics calling it the James Franco and Vanessa Hudgens movie? but I've actually seen some calling it the Franco and Selena movie. Their argument scene together is praised a lot (Selena&Franco), while the threesome scene is claimed to be very awkward.
