When H&M billed the fęte for their new Lana del Rey-led autumn campaign as an “exclusive and private performance,” they weren’t kidding. Held at The Wooly in downtown Manhattan, the party and four-song micro set accompanying it was so intimate, we felt a little uncomfortable leaving our balled-up napkins on the end tables. It was as if we’d stumbled upon a secret underground party of the hippest kids we’d always wanted to hang out with, mashed with sitting shiva at someone’s grandma’s house on a rainy day. And there was cotton candy. Know what I mean?
Around 9 p.m., the party filed into a larger (though not by much) room upstairs where the VIPs were given first dibs on some antiquey fainting couches and velvet armchairs. They could keep ‘em–we scooted right up to the tiny stage beside Leandra Medine, Cory Kennedy, Prabal Gurung, and the lady of the hour, Miss Lana del Rey, hot off the front row at Mulberry. Her hair was so dark and shiny. Her voice was so deep and wavery. Her dress was sheer with two slits to the thighs which allowed her to do this awkward squatting thing once. We were so close we could see the glue under her gloriously lengthy, pointy bright red nails. The entire night was about as unreal as those tips (note, I say ‘tips,’ not lips. Leave Lana alone!)
After the brief performance (she sang “Blue Jeans,” “Blue Velvet,” “I guess it’s time to do ‘Video Games’” and a new song we hadn’t yet heard before flitting away into the night), the crowd’s verdict rang loud and clear: “She’s way better in person!” “She didn’t put me to sleep like I’d expected!” “She looked amazing!” and “Oh my god Lana I love you so much can we hang out sometime?” Ok… so that last one might’ve just been us. But you get the idea.

No surprise here, she has the power to put them haters and non-fans on her knees.
Lana - slowly but surely changing pre-conceptions in her homeland. They are coming on board the Lana Express, it's just taking them a bit longer than most.
H&M went for Lana and now this is the pay-off, Lana is stunning, the song is amazing and i'm pretty sure that the sales will go up, mostly in Europe and Canada, the USA not so much, just in the main cities.
The commercial is great and I love the David Lynchian touches. I'm also really glad to hear that opinions have been changing of her for the better. I hope to hear more about the Paradise Edition rerelease soon!
