And notice the Idol (American Idol) effect when it comes to Gwen's album. She performs in front of this TV show that holds 20+ million viewers a week, and this is a result of it.
Now Elliot Yamin should go on that show.

Yeah, AI had a big impact, but so did the KCA performance, this is her week. You can tell because both the Explicit and Clean sales of Sweet Escape (song and album) shot up last week and even more saturday/sunday

The largest Latino retail store boycotted her album. They claim she refused to visit the store for signings and instead went to Virgin. The president claimed that J.Lo only cared about her white fans and that if she was going to be that way he wasn’t going to sell her album (I don’t remember the name of the store, I hope someone else here has heard of this story as well)? Perhaps this is one of the reasons why her album isn’t doing as good?

I read about this and the same thing happened to Shakira with Ritmo Latino, same thing...still she sold more than 150k
so thats no excuse.
STILL 50k for a SPANISH album isn't a flop, what are people thinking? its actually REALLY good for a spanish album.

I'm glad that J.Lo debuted in the top ten, at least all of her albums have debuted in the top ten... including her English, Spanish and Remix releases... that's nice...
I'm also happy for Gwen's jump!!!

From my view lately, the first (actual) couple of Country music seems to be Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.

American Idol is pretty amazing at pushing records and singles, but seriously, who went out and bought Gwen Stefani's album after that horrid performance?

Even though I don't like Sweet Escape, I agree, I thought it was simple as it should've been. BUT YA KNOW DEM HATERZ!...
I just wish Gwen could've performed anything besides her first 2 singles off the current album she's commercializing.

Timbaland is ready to step out from his producer's chair for a new solo album, which could just put him at #1 next week, according to reports from our crack-addled retail reporting network.
The much-in-demand hip-hop producer's new Mosley Music Group/Blackground/Interscope album, Timbaland Presents Shock Value, will challenge for the top spot on next week's chart with a total approaching 140k, which should put it neck-and-cowboy hat with Tim McGraw for #1.
Three divas, one country, the others pop and R&B, could profit from strong Easter sales to challenge the two guys. SBMG Nashville chanteuse Martina McBride's latest, Waking up Laughing, could have her doing just that next week, with a shot at 120k. Hollywood Records' Hilary Duff is all grown up on Dignity, which is also heading towards 120k. Finally, Beyonce releases a deluxe version of her hit Music World/Columbia/CRG album, B'day, which should add 100-110k to her total, featuring the hot new duet with Shakira, 'Beautiful Liar.'
Asylum rapper Paul Wall appears to be all up in your grill with an estimated first-week total of 80-90k for the Houston hip-hop star with the gold teeth's aptly titled Get Money, Stay True album
Mercury Nashville's Live at Texas Stadium, featuring country superstars Alan Jackson, George Strait and Jimmy Buffett, looks to be in the 50-55k range, the same total for bluegrass star Alison Krauss' greatest hits album for Rounder, A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection
RCA's southern rock critical darlings Kings of Leon return with the acclaimed Because of the Times, which seems headed for an impressive 40-45k in first-week sales.
Next Tuesday's (4/10) releases include Cassadaga, the eagerly anticipated new album from Bright Eyes phenom Conor Oberst, on Omaha indie Saddle Creek.
The market was up almost 5% vs. last week, down over 15% vs. same week last year and now down between 16-17% year-to-date.

It was quite mediocre. I do understand that the song doesn't allow for her to showcase her vocals, but really, she's guest hosting and singing on a American Idol...do something worthwhile.

49K is still bad for Jennifer Lopez, Shakira debuted high with "Fiajcion Oral" Vol.1 and although Shakira is a latin superstar, Jennifer Lopez has a WAY bigger fanbase. For god sakes, even Paulina Rubio sold more than her. While the boycott has a lot to do with it.... She needed to promote A LOT more, and maybe pick a better next single. Maybe "Te Voy A Querer" can save the album. (she should save the track) release "Tu" right now, it's the best thing

Paulina's last Spanish album debuted with 30,000. It was her English album which debuted at #11 with 56,000.
