You disagree?
Russian Roulette shows a young girl being gassed in a chamber by government officials, then gets thrown into the water and continuously shot at while singing about a relationship she compares to the most dangerous game you can play, Russian Roulette. In the end her lover shoots himself, we don't know if he's alive or dead. You could definitely compare that to her real life situation. So not only is it dark, but it's inspired by reality.
You mean to tell me you think Lady Gaga giving birth to an army of mutants and riding a unicorn is darker than that?

first of all..it's not about the story..at least it's not what I wasn't talking about. it's about the imagery. even if Rihanna's video was based on the world's most epic story, it still looks just like any other pop video, with the pop star looking pretty and modeling around in a room. and because the song is a ballad, she occasionally makes a sad face. there's no uniqueness to it, anyone from katy perry to kesha could have done that video.
secondly.. even if we talk about meanings...what's artistic about what your wrote? I don't see it.

A birth of magnificent and magical proportions took place. But the birth was not finite, it was infinite. As the wombs numbered and the mitosis of the future began, it was perceived that this infamous moment in life is not temporal, it is eternal. And thus began the beginning of the new race, a race within the race of humanity, a race which bears no prejudice, no judgement, but boundless freedom. But on that same day the eternal mother hovered in the multi-verse, a more terrifying birth took place, the birth of evil. And as she herself split into two, rotating in agony between two ultimate forces, the pendulum of choice began its dance. It seems easy to imagine, to gravitate instantly and unwaveringly towards good. But she wondered, how can I protect something so perfect without evil?

now that is deep!

Yes, Fighter is more artistic and is an overall better video than any music video Gaga has ever done.

I didn't say it was artistic, I said it was darker. The imagery in Russian Roulette is more disturbing to me. There's nothing "everyday pop video" about gas chambers or being shot in the water left for dead. I don't find Gaga's BTW to be very "dark" compared to that. You mention Rihanna is just standing around, but the point of her video was not to make people dance or to make them excited.

I'm not saying she should have danced, I'm saying that the point of that video is the same as 99% of all pop videos - a sexy girl looking pretty and doing nothing interesting or artistic. as I said, you could replace her with Katy perry and that video wouldn't be any different
but this is getting off-topic

Yes, but Gaga still comes close with "Just Dance" and "Paparazzi".

It's more artisitic and profound than about 85% of Gaga videos. Paparazzi and Bad Romance>>>>>>>>>

Fighter is a brilliant video with a great concept and visuals, but I wouldn't call it "more artistically profound".
The narrative of Christina breaking free from her confines and transforming into her new-self is cool and fitting, but I wouldn't say it's "deeper" than Gaga's dark commentary on fame with Paparazzi or the first minutes of her autobiographical MTN video. Not saying they're necessarily "better", but I think they're more thought provoking.
I'd personally say Christina's most profound videos are Beautiful and Hurt. The latter is hard to watch in some respects because it's clearly art imitating life with her father issues, and whilst the former may seem almost cliche now...it was such a big deal at the time. That gay kiss (and cross dressing man) featured was a big LGBT moment in pop culture. More so than any Gaga video.

No. Paparazzi & Bad Romance were "artistically profound" more than Fighter.
I still like the Fighter MV though
And at the fellow monsters using Born This Way as a profound music video
