Music News: Gotye wants "State of the Art" as next single

"I'd like to see the song 'State Of The Art' as a single - whether many people would do that or not - I'm really proud of that song," says Gotye. "It's one of my favorites. It's a peculiar pop song and is probably the most unique song on the record."

The chart-topping multi-instrumentalist admits that, while there are more obvious single choices, he sees more of a benefit in taking the riskier route. "I think it would be a better idea to be bolder and pick that song and just see how people really take that," he says, explaining that he plans to sit down with his management to finalize plans once the current tour wraps.

While radio listeners have grown accustomed to hearing "Somebody That I Used To Know" at least twice a day, Gotye says he hasn't become tired of the single. "I don't get to listen to the radio that much so I'm not yet overexposed to it," he says. "My relationship with the music hasn't really changed much even with all the response to the song."

I agree, it's one of my favorite songs from the album, but it's probably the worst potential single. It has no radio/buyer appeal whatsoever. It has pretty much everything going against it.

I hope his label intervenes & releases Save Me instead.
