Alanis only beat Mariah in one category. Mariah lost all of her awards to different artists.

I'd go even further - she was lucky to even get nominated. It had totally different meaning back then. It was a huge honor to be just included in particular category. It seems that she wasn't 2nd possible winner in her categories.

I wouldn't be surprised if these were the actual runner-ups in those categories.

I think 1996 was filled with many deserving winners. I can't hate on Alanis, Seal and the others for taking home awards. Jagged Little Pill is a ****ing classic. Still, Mariah should have taken home atleast one or two.

Now 2006? A little bit more surprising to me. I really thought she'd win one of the big categories.
