I am well aware of what a forum means, dear, just like most every other
forum I've been on (which is many) allows smilie/.gif-only posts as a form of expressing a sentiment/reaction. The ones that don't allow this are those that don't allow smilies or .gifs at all. Smilies/.gifs are obviously a huge part of the culture here, and it's nonsensical to warn them for being "pointless" when it's not very hard to ascertain what the poster is trying to convey through it. It could have been an official warning for the past 10 years and it still wouldn't make any more sense or be any less unnecessary.
