I love Ciara, but this was just okay. It wasn't horrible by any means, but it didn't make me excited to hear new music (seeing the single cover for Boy Outta Here did, maybe because I am disappointed with this).
The song sounds a bit tired. If I heard it on the radio I wouldn't think it was a new song. People are saying Promise 2.0, it does seem that way with some of the background noises, but it's not even half as good. The video as well isn't much to latch onto. I can't see myself watching it many times, whereas for Promise I've watched that video TONS of times. Its just lots of shots of her singing into a guy's ear or dancing in silhouette. Pretty boring. I know its a slow song but the scenarios are such cliches that it just seems like its new set, new clothes, new person singing. The lens flares are tired in music videos too I think. It just overall doesn't seem like she was really trying. It feels more like a past failure than a soon-to-be hit.
I was really hoping that if she was releasing a ballad it would be new and innovative, since all her other ballads never really did that well but she went ahead and made a song that sounded like all her other ballads.

But get into the lyrical content, she rarely does songs like this. this honest and open.
50 Cent bought her a ring
The video, the song, I'm just SLAYED. I was NOT here for a ballad as the first single, but the fact that I heard the song ONCE and it's already stuck in my head?! The melody is GENIUS.
This era finally came to a start. FINALLY. I'm so proud of Ciara and this song.
