I personally think that Hummingbird Heartbeat was planned to be the 6th single (Perhaps if the above post is true Capitol said 'TGIF now, HH next'?) hence why Katy and Tricky were in the studio in August - perhaps making a single remix for HH or something. Then things started getting rocky in her personal life so she swapped it to The One That Got Away? Makes sense to me.

Regardless, this really should've been a single rather than there being a rerelease, and we could've gotten a Movie EP over Summer 2012 or something.

HH - Late Summer/Early Fall 2011
TOTGA - Late Fall/Winter 2011

Part of Me - Summer 2012
Something else - Now, 2012

I doubt any label plans that far ahead. They probably kinda came up with it as things went on. I do agree that Katy's personal life was likely a contributor. Also, I think the fact that TOTGA's sound was different was also a contributing factor. If you noticed every single was followed by a single that didn't quite have the same sound. TOTGA is the biggest difference.

Meh, this should've been the 7th single back in February, then she should've released Not Like The Movies as the 8th single in June (even if it most likely wouldn't hit #1). She should've saved POM, WA, and DU for 3 guaranteed hits already.

Well, we knew that they were discussing the 4th single before the album came out, though.

IMO Katy and her team planned the 1st 5 singles from the start, they knew the era would be this huge.

"Hummingbird Heartbeat" and "Peacock" should be worldwide singles....maybe remix them with Taylor Swift and LMFAO respectively. That way she has two more smashes (oh they WILL smash if released) that take her into 2013 and she can take as much time as she wants with the new album. I don't think people are sick of Katy at all, her songs are so catchy and listener-friendly, and Rihanna hasn't had a break since like 2009 and her songs still smash.

I hope she releases this worldwide, Releases dance remixes of Pearl (another easy dance #1), and Releases Circle The Drain. (Dressin' Up is not that enjoyable)

I know releasing more singles would tank the whole ~story~ of the Teenage Dream era, but if she's not coming out with an album till later next year, then she might as well release more singles. At this moment in her career, anyone will buy a song or play it on the radio if it has the name KATY PERRY stamped on it. She should just release this worldwide and then release Peacock or Not Like The Movies afterwards. She'll cross 6 million albums WW and increase her record sales even further.

And the GP in America doesn't seem tired of her yet. She got a ballad to smash in the summer, so this could probably do better given the right video and promotion.

Except it won't get her any critical acclaim. It's not a very good song....and critics already panned the album when it came out. No shade.
