Demi Lovato has been criticised for using Auto-Tune technology on The X Factor USA.
The new show judge told contestant Shawn Armenta on last night's season two premiere (September 12) that a singing career perhaps isn't for him.Lovato told Armenta: "A lot of people work really, really hard for their dreams, but it's not meant for everybody."
However, the 50-year-old hopeful fired back by saying: "That's why you use Auto-Tune and I don't."
Fellow new judge Britney Spears then sprung to Lovato's defence by saying to Shawn: "I feel uncomfortable with you even staring at me."
Simon Cowell has joked that his well known role as the nasty judge could be under threat from Spears, saying: "And everybody thinks I'm the mean one."
