Many reasons but the most prominent is the weak lyrics.

I like it for what it is, a catchy, stupid, yet fun pop song. Its definitely FAR from her best but Im not expecting her most best, mature lyrics for a song titled We are never ever getting back together

The song is immature because of the way she sings it. Lyrically it can be interpreted to be mature until she sings it with a pop beat and a "haha I will never ever be with you again" attitude.

But it's done wrong. It's bashing the ex in a childish way. And "we are never ever getting back together" is something that I would expect to hear from a highschooler, not a 22 yo woman. An example of good "never getting back together" song would be Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way."

Carole King's next highest certified album is Music which is only Platinum. I don't think any album certified platinum could stay on the charts that long. I got it from wiki though.
