I'm not personally religious but I'm just saying I think it is kind of ridiculous to say that there should NOT be religion or something.

Okay, I won't disagree that some people cannot have those things without Religion. I can see where you're coming from. I agree that people can believe what ever they want as long as they don't forcefully impose their views on others or try to restrict the liberty of others with it.

Technology can advance without Religion. In fact, it was necessary at some point to be defiant of Religion to gain advancement in technology and many things that we know today contradict many Religions so I don't agree that it aids advancement of technology in any way. There's many other factors that have contributed to culture such as food, music, social customs, etc. Most cultures are identified firstly by and are associated with those, not by their Religion.
I'm sure that it does give people hope, but it isn't the only thing that does or is able to provide hope. But I guess that it can boost the morale of Religious people in adverse circumstances.
Humans don't need Religion. There are many non-religious people that are getting along just fine, have morality to be able to function properly into society, get hope from elsewhere, and so on. People can be Religious by all means, but to say that the Human race on a whole needs religion is a stretch as there have even been completely functional areligious societies.
