80. Atomic Kitten- The Tide Is High (Get the Feeling) (6.329)
Highest score: 10 x7 (backtoback, Green, Strangergab, lovesong, Kool_Aid_King, Sporefan, Dream)
Lowest score: 0 x2 (jqnetto, adrianbeane)
An unflattering picture of Atomic Kitten:
I call this song the wh.ore song. Why? Because it gets about. It was originally recorded in 1967 by Jamaican group The Paragons. Since, it's been used by hitmakers including Blondie, the 'Kitten, Queen Billie Piper and Kardinal Offshall (?!).
Billie was to release it as a single, but decided not to after deciding to give up singing following death threats from a woman called Juliet Peters, whom allegedly threatened the lives of Billie and Billie's family.
The Kitten's version was a little more successful. Not only was it used in the opening credits of the Lizzie McGuire movie, a version was also recorded for Japanese company Asahi Breweries. Bizarrely enough, a Spanish version called Ser Tu Pasion was recorded as a means of marketing the band to Latin America. Released in Colombia, Mexico and Spain, it failed to chart anywhere. The video is well remembered rather infamously for how overweight band member Natasha is, but even her elephantine appearance didn't stop this song from selling 1.5 million copies worldwide.
Jinzo's verdict: 7
Seriously, Natasha is fat as hell in the video.

80. (=) Katy Perry- I Kissed a Girl (6.329)
Highest score: 10 x7 (Strangergab, JDella11, superben, Regina George, berberocka, boyamama, VJoker)
Lowest score: 0 x4 (Glassheart, Kool_Aid_King, madonnas, Ace Reject)
The picture you knew was coming:
And the first of our big girls leaves! (besides Michelle McManus). Capital's A&R, Chris Anoukute, said of the song:
"People said, 'This is never going to get played on the radio. How do we sell this? How’s this going to be played in the Bible belt?'"
Well, it did alright. 7 weeks at #1 in the US, and 5 weeks at #1 here in the UK- the next song being able to do this, as a matter of reference- is some quiet, subdued and essentially unknown release called Someone Like You.
The video is famous for is sexy connotations and Perry's titallation, but in fact it features at that time an unknown artist:
...who is it? Kelly Rowland? Jeffree Star?
Jinzo's verdict: 6.5
A great intro to what we were hoping would be a new full-on sex kitten girl: didn't quite pan out that way..

I mean, it's better than like 50 songs that are still left but I saw this elimination coming and I'm only slightly pressed about it.

80. (=) Ciara- Goodies (6.329)
Highest score: 10 x7 (Glassheart, Kool_Aid_King, berberocka, Pink Panther, Chemist, classicmainstream, MP2K)
Lowest score: 0 x6 (Stevie, Mandarke, Strangergab, jqnetto, VJoker, Soma80)
Did you know that there's a website called http://www.ciaraisaman.com?
Can you believe it? Ciara? Transatlantic #1 smash? Yep, 7 years ago, it happened. In the US, it spent 7 weeks at #1, which in actual fact is the longest #1 reign for a debut single for a female artist since 1977. And then a Ms. Rae Jepsen went and ruined all that. The Princess of Crunk&B wrote the song as an "answer song" to Petey Pablo's Freek-a-Leek, which defines local with its US and Netherlands-only release.
We're still waiting for Ci to bring back his #1 reign....maybe this era? *shrugs*
Jinzo's verdict: 8.5
I bet you want the Goodies
Bet you thought about it
Got you all hot and bothered
...How can you not want to straddle someone after listening to this?

"I Kissed a Girl" is utter trash. Good riddance. May it never win an ATRL rate.
I'm still hoping for a Ciara comeback. "Goodies" is a bop.

....crying tears for Ace Reject right now-
77. Spiller ft. Sophie Ellis-Bextor- Groovejet (If This Ain't Love) (6.365)
Highest score: 10 x8 (Stevie, madonnas, airbornE, berberocka, boyamama, Chemist, Dream, Ace Reject)
Lowest score: 0 x2 (conseeded, CrazyCat)
Sophie sis, what were you doing with the blonde hair?:
Originally a vocal-less production released by Italian producer Spiller in late 1999, the Queen of elegance and class, Ms. Ellis-Bextor, unleashed her godly, cold vocals onto the track. This was Sophie's first ever venture away her former role as lead singer of indie band theaudience.
Sophie found herself quite unwittingly in a chart clash of the posh, pouty TITANS, as flawless queen took on flawless queen with Victoria Beckham releasing Out of Your Mind in the very same week. Posh lead all the way until Saturday, but unfortunately could not hold her Poker pout long enough, and Sophie pipped her to the top.
Story goes that Sophie's hit was the first song ever to be played on an iPod, back in August 2001. Only a Queen can try out a royal garment, clearly.
Jinzo's verdict: 7
It sh1ts, obviously, but kinda sounds a bit dated nowadays. Her solo stuff is far, far better than this though, trust me.

76. Jay-Z ft. Rihanna and Kanye West- Run This Town (6.395)
Highest score: 10 x6 (Stevie, VJoker, Chemist, Flashing Lights, Kool_Aid_King, classicmainstream)
Lowest score: 0 x4 (Green, Strangergab, Glassheart, Dream)
An unflattering picture of Rihanna:
One of Rihanna's 63 UK #1s, Run This Town is remembered by many critics for the manner in which Jay is totally outclassed by Kanye and Ri Ri; Digital Spy for instance saying the following:
"Kanye's slick rapping and Rihanna's "hey-hey" chorus hook make Jay-Z seem surplus to requirements, which surely can't have been the aim. The chaotic military march beats are impressive – and hats off to Jigga for snubbing Auto-Tune – but this track still doesn't seem fitting of an artist considered a groundbreaking rap legend.
However, that didn't stop the song from granting 2 more Grammys- which means she has 2 more Grammys than Katy Perry- and the UK was the only territory in which the song managed a #1. Rihanna stays winning!
Jinzo's verdict: 5.5
I just don't use the song besides Rihanna's hook. Both Jay and Ye have done far, far better.

Rihanna's hook is definitely the best part of "Run This Town."

I actually like Jay's part a lot more than Kanye's on this one. Both are pretty dull though. Like in most her collabs, Rihanna saves it.

75. Sugababes- Freak Like Me (6.461)
Highest score: 10 x10 (jinzo, Stevie, HaHa2011, JDella11, adriabeane, Sporefan, berberocka, boyamama, Chemist, Ace Reject)
You will burn in flames: 1 x2 (Strangergab, jqnetto)
An unflattering picture of a Sugababe:
AM FUMING. I'd truly say this is the first shocker of the rate so far, I'm absolutely appalled it's so low! The début of now-iconic middle-8 chanteuse Heidi Range, it went on to sell over 275,000 copies. Borrowing a sound effect at the start of the song from the 1981 video game Frogger, the song was originally intended as an underground dance track for producer Richard X as the alias Girl On Top. However, after failing to gain clearance from this cover song's original vocalist, Adina Howard, Mr. X allowed our Babes to record it. How I do very much miss when the girls were this talented...
Jinzo's verdict: 10
Seriously? One of the most brilliant girlband songs of the 21st Century not even in the Top 70? Outrageous.
