Pretty dumb, to be honest.

No. Her music is catchy but nothing really special. She's a good singer thogh and has great stage present.

The people answering "Her music stands out but not in a good way" are complete idiots.

So 11 out of 12 of your singles making the Top Ten is a bad thing?

Why is having one flop such a bad thing when most of your faves have twice or three times as many flops?

No. There isn't anything special about her music, it is basic pop.

So her music sounds exactly the same as everything Katy, Rihanna, and Nicki have been putting out lately?

Obviously not, I said her music is basic not generic.

The majority of pop girls today are pretty basic, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

So Electric Chapel , Scheisse , Bloody Mary and pretty much the rest of BTW is basic...

Keeping in mind the current state of pop music,definitely.Ofcourse,she primarily does dance music,but Gaga's music is in no way just plain,bland,formulaic dance-pop tailored for the charts unlike many of her peers',no matter what you say about it.Her music atleast makes an effort to take the genre of electro-pop to much higher,farther levels than it's usually narrow spectrum.Moreover,it also incorporates elements of other genres and critics have recognised that.

Basic and generic are practically the same words.

Gaga does do a lot of dance music but it is possible to make sophisticated dance/pop music, so it does stand out.

Poker Face and Just Dance, for example, could be deemed dance songs you hear everyday but both are still unique in the way they were produced.

No really, but she plays the pop game different than the other girls.

But they still have elements within them that were found previously in music that Britney and Rihanna made beforehand. So they weren't exactly unique, as I expressed before Gaga's music takes elements from her contemporaries and just repackages. It's not that different from her musical contemporaries.

Eh... Poker Face is based on an interpolation of Boney M's "Ma Baker," which is also a characteristic of Don't Stop The Music, based on an interpolation of a Michael Jackson song.

Besides that, RedOne is fond of recycling instrumentals and beats from other artists; even those that aren't his own. Musically, "Just Dance" is very similar to Nelly Furtado's "Maneater."

I think one thing that should be noted in this thread is that while Gaga's singles may not differ that much from what pop music offers, a lot of the rest of her album material does stand out. You do not hear a lot of pop tracks like Bloody Mary, Electric Chapel, Government Hooker, etc. often.

It's unique to her, but then again take a look at the girls recent genres:

Katy:
One of the Boys - Pop-rock, soft rock
Teenage Dream - Rock, disco, pop, electronic

Rihanna:
Loud - Dance-pop, R&B, pop
Talk That Talk - Dance-pop, pop

Gaga:
The Fame Monster - Dance, electropop
Born This Way - Dance-pop, synth pop, electro rock, techno

They all make vastly different music from eachother Gaga is unique in her own right, but going as far as saying her music is revolutionary is quite a reach.

Yes, her songs have great quality too

But saying that, it's not innovative.
