Rihanna, some of her music is actually critically acclaimed and she's also more respected since she doesn't act like a disney chick (no offence I love Katy).

Nobody is saying BTD is Lana's second album, 'cause it's her major label debut. OOTB is Katy's first wide release, deal

That shouldn't matter because again, commercial success =/= respect. TD is Katy's third album, much like how BTD is Lana's second, even if their respective debuts didn't reach a wide audience.

And even if we pretend Teenage Dream is Katy's sophomore album, Rihanna was still getting better reviews with AGLM than Katy was with TD.

GGGB was not the first wide release from her. MTS even had bonus tracks for different countries

But you need to understand that Katy Hudson album was not in the radio, was not on the internet, her label ceased to exist shortly after release. The was no awareness to generate respect or lack thereof. It was a niche release. Barely music magazine noticed it was released until OOTB came out. Ur So Gay EP did much more for her in terms of recognition that KH CD

I respect Katy much more than Rihanna cause she's actually somewhat present in the creation of her album, while Rihanna gets everything served on a silver platter. Both probably do, but Katy at least writes some of her lyrics. But, Rihanna is more respected generally though.

On one hand, Rihanna is seen by many as a label manufactured hit machine without artistic integrity who relies on crude sexuality and an army of producers and marketers to ensure commercial success.

On the other hand, Katy is seen by many as a label manufactured hit machine without artistic integrity who relies on cheap gimmicks and an army of producers and marketers to ensure commercial success.

But in actuality, it's the producers who rely on Rihanna's undeniable hit making vocals.

Katy on the other hand is smart and plans her hits out, it's not her fault she/her team knows the market and slays it.

Katy and Rihanna undoubtedly the most hated on hugely sucessful pop stars on this site.

I REALLY REALLY wonder, When will people understand this? Katy writes, composes,sings songs. Rihanna can only sing, she can't even play piano or guitar. Even wikipedia says that Katy is singer/songwriter and Rihanna is recording artist. You cannot compare two people with definetly two different jobs. Ofcourse ofcourse Katy is more respected. I hope people think about it and comment logically.
