Never thought of this but it makes a lot of sense, Shakira has sexed up her image a lot in recent years, I remember seeing Rabiosa for the first and never in my life I'd have thought that I was gonna see Shakira dancing like a stripper and Im not even passing judgement on her cos she can do whatever she wants to tbh.

Yeah, I think that was a surprise to most people. I'm not sure what exactly motivated her to do that. I know she was wrapping up her contract with Epic Records. Maybe she just gave in and gave them what they wanted.

Yeah exactly. I don't think there was influence from Gaga at all in this album but there are parallels in their aesthetic to some degree.

They both sort of adapted this persona of what they believe a pop star looks, acts, and makes music like. They studied pop stars and created these alter egos! By doing so they're making a comment on pop stars and pop culture while in a way also celebrating it.

Of course people must immediately refute these comparisons because no one is here for saying Gaga has made any real impact on pop culture for whatever reason.

She didn't say it was inspired by Gaga. And she only said the visuals are inspired by the three M's, one of them being Madonna and then two other bitches. Madonna inspires her more in career pathways than album direction.

I think that any album that someone makes is inspired by people they admire or grew up idolising, which from her blog you can see that she idolises Shakira and from interviews you know that she idolises Madonna and Britney. Each of her inspirations influences the album (lyric topics and sound-wise) and its visuals in different ways and the same could be said for anyone else.
