How come his career doesn't have anything to do with his performance? Last night was the FIRST time Frank performed on a stage of that caliber, he has only done festivals and small concerts, this is only his second TV performance of his career (the first one was Jimmy Fallon), it's quite understandable why he would be nervous. Just think about it for a second, it's common sense.
