Psy, the Korean pop star and U.S. viral video sensation, uploaded a short clip on his official YouTube channel Monday showing music exec Scooter Braun and himself sharing a drink and making a big announcement: Sources have confirmed to Billboard that Psy has signed to Braun's Schoolboy Records, part of Universal Republic.
Psy is best known around the world for his viral music video sensation "Gangnam Style" which this past summer has received nearly 100 million views -- though the work was never intended for American audiences.
That future looks bright as Psy will have a major platform to up his American awareness at this week at the MTV Video Music Awards. In the same report that announced Psy's signing, it was also confirmed that he will make an appearance on the VMA stage this Thursday.
In addition to managing Just Bieber, Braun has also signed Carly Rae Jepsen to his Schoolboy Records label and manages The Wanted in North America.
